The 8th edition of the ÍRÁN:CI Film Festival based in the Czech Republic has honored ‘Lunch Time’ as best short.

Directed by Alireza Qasemi, the 15-minute ‘Lunch Time’ is about a high school girl who has come to hospital to identify the body of her mother.

The people in charge at the hospital would not let her into the morgue because of her young age.

Among the cast members of the flick are Khorshid Cheraqipour, Roya Bakhtiari, Amir Taqdiri, Peyman Naemi, Siavash Cheraqipour, Bahram Omrani, Pouria Akhavan, Mohammad Haddadi, Alireza Qasemi, Mehdi Yeganeh, and Arash Qasemi.

The short has been nominated for a Palme d’Or at the 70th edition of the Cannes Film Festival.

‘Lunch Time’ has had several international screenings, including at the HollyShorts Film Festival in the US which made the film qualified for submission to the Student Academy Awards.

The ÍRÁN:CI Film Festival puts together some of the best works of Iranian cinema. A line-up competed at various sections of the 8th ÍRÁN:CI Film Festival with screenings scheduled in Czech cities of Prague and Brno cities as well as Slovakian capital of Bratislava until late January.
